UBC CPPD Pharmacy Update 2024 Conference
This year UBC’s Continuing Pharmacy Professional Development (CPPD) celebrates its 35th annual Update Conference.
The virtual conference will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024, and will allow pharmacy professionals and all health care providers to enhance and update their knowledge and skills. In doing so, attendees will be able to improve patient care, medication management, interprofessional collaboration, and public safety.

UPDATE 2024 CONFERENCE TRAILER
The 35th edition of the CPPD Conference includes an array of exciting topics that will contribute to your practice with learning objectives that will enable you to:
- Manage mild to moderate atopic dermatitis in children, recognize other forms of dermatitis (e.g. seborrheic, contact, dyshidrotic, nummular, and diaper) including distinguishing features, know when to refer patients for evaluation, and understand considerations for systemic therapy and severe atopic dermatitis.
- Describe first-line pharmacotherapy in treating tobacco use disorder, consider non-pharmacological options (including “brief intervention”), recognize “hard-to-treat” populations and off-label approaches, as well as become familiar with the growing use of “vaping”.
- Identify and classify individuals at risk for osteoporosis, develop a comprehensive approach for patients based on current guidelines, and evaluate the role of lifestyle interventions in the management and prevention of osteoporosis.
- Discuss general principles of psychedelic-assisted therapy, describe the mechanism of action of psilocybin and MDMA, outline various Health Canada approved access routes used by patients, and list safety concerns of psilocybin and MDMA that can be minimized with pharmacist involvement.
