District 8 Candidate - Eric Sletmoen

Eric Sletmoen brings over a decade of diverse experience in pharmacy practice, paired with a dynamic approach to problem-solving and teamwork. After beginning his professional journey studying Acting at Simon Fraser University, he discovered his passion for healthcare, completing the Pharmacy Technician program at Vancouver Community College in 2014. From a practicum at Royal Columbian Hospital to becoming a regulated pharmacy technician at the Pharmacy Drug Distribution Center in Langley, Eric has navigated various roles in both specialized and high-volume environments, including BC Children’s & Women’s Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital.

Currently, Eric works at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Coquitlam, where he applies his broad clinical knowledge and skills in a uniquely challenging environment. His experience in diverse healthcare settings has honed his ability to adapt, lead, and ensure that pharmacy services meet the highest standards of public safety.

In his three years on the CPBC Board, Eric has played an integral role in fostering consensus-based decision-making, developing strong relationships with College staff and fellow Board members. His collaborative approach has facilitated tangible outcomes, ensuring that decisions reflect the public’s best interests. Some of the key initiatives Eric has contributed to during his tenure include the creation of the “What Can You Expect from Your Pharmacy Visit” poster, the Board Code of Conduct, and the Board Composition Matrix. These efforts have directly improved transparency, accountability, and the overall experience of pharmacy care for British Columbians.

Eric is passionate about advancing cultural competence and supporting the College's mandate to protect the public. His focus remains on strengthening governance and ensuring equitable representation in pharmacy regulation, with an eye toward inclusivity and fairness in healthcare. As a proud member of the LGBTQ2+ community, Eric is dedicated to creating safe, accessible, and culturally sensitive spaces for all.

Eric resides and practices pharmacy on the unceded and traditional territories of the Halkomelem-speaking peoples, including the Qayqayt First Nation in New Westminster. He acknowledges and honours the deep connection these communities have to the land and is committed to supporting the College's efforts to eliminate Indigenous-specific racism in healthcare.
