Guest Post: Part-Time Pharmacist Facilitators Needed at UBC
The UBC Pharm Sci program has been benefiting from the experience of licensed pharmacists for the better part of 20 years. The experience and expertise of these pharmacist facilitators is incredibly valuable to student learning and has a huge impact on the future of the profession in British Columbia.
In this role, pharmacists are an integral part of our teaching team, helping to guide students through various simulated pharmacy practice activities, facilitating case based learning sessions, and assessing student performance. They also help students to learn communication and patient interview skills through role-play scenarios that involve trained actors serving as standardized patients.
Pharmacist facilitators who have helped in previous years have appreciated the opportunity to work with and learn from our students. They see it as a valuable learning opportunity fostered by their participation in the preparation and delivery of course activities. Many facilitators have also been motivated to further engage in continuing professional development through being involved in our program.
With the introduction of the Entry-to-Practice Pharm D program at UBC we are looking for new pharmacist facilitators to join our team. This is a great opportunity to help yourself stay up to date, give back to the profession, and help train future pharmacists.
Shifts are typically one half-day per week from September to April and pharmacists are paid for their time.
