Thank you to all Volunteer Committee Applicants!
This February, the College issued a call for applications from pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and the public and received an overwhelming response of over 75 applications.
College Committees play an important role in allowing the College to meet its legislative requirements, and draw on additional expertise as part of Board decision making. Some committees, such as Registration, Inquiry, and Discipline are required by legislation, while other committees, such as Community, Hospital and Residential Care provide valuable stakeholder feedback and help with bylaw and policy development.
The College’s committees are composed of registered pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, as well as members of the public. Public representation gives our committees a balanced perspective through which to make decisions.
Volunteers were reviewed by the Governance Committee and 21 new members were appointed to College committees.

With only 21 vacancies on committees, the College Board was unable to appoint all applicants. Applications will remain on file at the College over the next year in the event that vacancies should become available.
We thank all applicants for their interest in the College. All committees are reviewed annually, and volunteers are encouraged to reapply in the future. The College’s volunteer committee members are what enable the College to achieve its mandate of regulating the pharmacy profession in the public interest.
Updates to the Committee Terms of Reference
In addition to the committee member appointments, an amendment to the terms of reference for all committees was approved by the College Board in April. The change is consistent with previous Board direction to change terms of office to three years from two years and remain at a maximum of six years in total.
The College Board also approved changes to the Drug Administration Committee Terms of Reference to align with what already exists in legislation under section 18 of the Health Professions Act bylaws. Previously, legislation was passed that expanded drug administration to include by intranasal route, however, the terms of reference was not updated to reflect that change.
