District 8 - Sorell Wellon
Sorell Wellon has been the District 8 representative since 2016.
During her time on the Board she has gained valuable governance experience and training. This has aided her in Chairing the Ethics Advisory, Application and Residential Advisory Committees. Aside from her Chairman roles, Sorell is also a member of the Governance and Legislation Review committees.
During her appointed and elected Board positions, Sorell has had the opportunity to be part of positive changes to legislation, which have helped to serve and protect the public.
She began her pharmacy career in 2002 by graduating with honors as valedictorian from Sprott-Shaw Community College. Sorell’s passion in the pharmacy field expanded in 2003 when she became an instructor for the Pharmacy Technician Program for Nanaimo and Duncan Community Colleges. During this time she completed her Provincial Instructors Diploma through Vancouver Career College.
Sorell’s retail pharmacy experience grew from 2006 to 2013 working as a full time pharmacy assistant for local pharmacies.
In the spring of 2011 she was part of the inaugural group of Registered Pharmacy Technicians in British Columbia.
As a licensed Technician, Sorell expanded her teaching credentials by instructing the online Pharmacy Technician Bridging Program for the University of British Columbia.
In 2013 Sorell became Manager of Operations for Remedy’sRx Specialty Pharmacy in Sidney.
Currently, Sorell is expanding her experience as a Registered Pharmacy Technician for the Vancouver Island Health Authority at the Cowichan District Hospital in Duncan.
With her depth of experience in retail and long term care, along with her years of governance experience on the College Board, Sorell will continue to be a valuable asset as a Pharmacy Technician representative for the College Board of District 8.
