The College of Pharmacists of BC has partnered with the UBC College of Health Disciplines to deliver a continuing education program for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians that promotes interdisciplinary relationships.
Pharmacy Technicians were first to get a sneak peek of the new program when the UBC College of Health Disciplines presented in collaboration with the College at the 9th Annual Pharmacy Technician Conference of BC held in Richmond on October 4 and 5.
Participants will first complete an interactive, self-directed 30-minute online introductory module that covers the basic concepts of interprofessional development. They then move on to six other online modules, which outline the key steps for successful collaborative practice through the lens of the following topics:
- Interprofessional Communication
- Patient/Client/Family/Community-Centred Care
- Role Clarification
- Team Functioning
- Interprofessional Conflict Management
- Collaborative Leadership
Once the six modules are complete, participants are eligible to attend an in-person workshop to put their new knowledge, skills and abilities into practice.
A 15% discount on the Certificate in Collaborative Practice for Health Professionals offered through UBC Continuing Studies is also available for those who complete the modules and attend the workshop.
The program launches in early January and regional workshops will be held on February 10, 12, 17 and 19.
