District 4 Candidate - Kinjalkumar Solanki

Firstly, I want to acknowledge I am thankful to work as a community pharmacist in Land of reserve of the Shuswap Indian Band, a band government of the Secwepemc (Shuswap) people and a member of government of the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council land of Ktunaxa Kinbasket Tribal Council in alliance with nearby bands of the Ktunaxa people. I am a dedicated and experienced professional with a profound commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring the highest standards of pharmaceutical practice. As a community pharmacist, I want to bring a wealth of knowledge and a strong background in both pharmacy practice and public policy. I believe that cultural safety and humility are vital for the provision of fair and equitable health services, as I am also coming from a totally different cultural background and values. I strongly believe that I want to create a healthcare environment free of racism and discrimination, where individuals feel safe and respected in all parts of the care.

With a bachelor’s in pharmacy from overseas and over the years of experience in various roles within the pharmaceutical field, I have a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of medication management and the importance of regulatory oversight from one part of the world to another. I have worked in diverse settings including community pharmacies, and have a deep appreciation for the impact that well-regulated pharmacy practices have on public health.

In my role on the CPBC Board, I will be committed to advancing policies and practices that prioritize public safety and the ethical delivery of pharmaceutical care. I will actively participate in the development and review of regulations that ensure pharmacies operate with transparency and integrity, protecting the public from harm and ensuring that the highest standards are maintained. I will also bring a strong background in risk management and crisis response, having been involved in emergency response, fire, evacuation, COVID-19 public health emergencies or implementing safety protocols. Also being part of the Canadian Red Cross Society I am eager to serve and help the public in each and possible way. This experience equips me with the skills necessary to oversee and guide the college in maintaining rigorous safety and compliance measures.

I am passionate about education and frequently participate in workshops, seminars, or training aimed at improving public awareness and understanding of pharmaceutical practices.

With this extensive background and unwavering dedication to public health, I am continuing to be a strong advocate for the protection of the public and the advancement of pharmacy practice standards within British Columbia.
