Every British Columbian is touched by the health and social care system in some way – whether it is as a patient, loved one or care provider. You’re invited to make one small change towards improvement by participating in Change Day BC.
The premise is simple – try something new or do one small thing to improve care for British Columbians. Pledges can be big or small. They can be related to any topic of your choice. They are voluntary and a personal commitment to changing care for the better. It’s as easy as recording your pledge online today at www.ChangeDayBC.ca and acting on that pledge at any time between today and Change Day – October 15, 2015.
The goal is to get 5,000 pledges registered online by October 15. Even seemingly simple pledges can have a positive effect. And when our pledges are combined we can create a tremendous wave of improvement that ripples throughout our system.
Change Day is a global movement that began in England in 2013. Since then, countries like Australia, Jordan and Sweden have joined and, last year, Saskatchewan was the first Canadian province to participate.
Early Change Day BC pledges include such things as: spending a day with a pediatric tertiary care nurse to better understand their work, supporting improvements in a hospital drug distribution system to make it more efficient and safe, shadowing a police mental health outreach team to learn more about the program, and encouraging patients to ask questions to best support their care.
So now the question is … what will you pledge? 1 Day. 5000 Pledges. Unlimited Possibilities.
The movement is online at www.ChangeDayBC.ca as well as on Twitter @ChangeDayBC and with hashtag #ChangeDayBC.
