Change Day BC
Thanks for the pledges!
The College is proud to have been an official Organizational Partner of Change Day BC 2017!
BC’s registered health professionals were encouraged to make pledges to commit an act of change, or to try something new in their practice in order to improve the care of patients in British Columbia and drive positive change within BC’s health system.
The initiative was organized by the BC Patient Safety and Quality Council, and coincided with our last Board meeting of the year on November 17, 2017.
Over 6000 pledges were made in BC, and over 18000 Canada wide.
We asked pharmacy professionals and College Staff to make a Change Day Pledge. Take a look at a few of our favourites:
“I pledge to…help discharge patients safely and contact their community pharmacy and physician”
- Emma (Surrey)
“I pledge to… advocate for pharmacy prescribing rights”
- Alex (New Westminster)
“I pledge to…remember the patient at the core of every medication order I process in pharmacy”
- Mary Lou (Interior Health)
“I pledge to…be more involved with my patients – to talk not just about medications but other things to help improve their lives.”
- Anonymous
“I pledge to…increase implementation of effective and safe medication use practices across our health authority by applying evidence-based behaviour change interventions.”
- Sean (Interior Health)
"I pledge to…offer more pharmacy clinical time to TCS patients"
- Brady (Interior Health)
"I pledge to… learn first-hand what “a day in the life” of a Patient Care Quality Officer is like. To be a “not so undercover boss” – and gain greater appreciation and understanding of this important work of the PHSA."
- Kris (Provincial Health Services Authority, Board Member, College of Pharmacists of BC)
“I pledge to…understand things from others point of view before I jump to conclusions.”
- Kaitlin (College of Pharmacists of BC)
“I pledge to…take a moment to relax and refocus on what’s important and why I’m doing something during times of intensity/stress.”
- Gillian (College of Pharmacists of BC)
“I pledge to…promote cultural safety among my colleagues by being inclusive and welcoming to everyone I meet and work with.”
- Cassandra (College of Pharmacists of BC)
“I pledge to…provide culturally competent care for LGBTQ patients and promote LGBTQ cultural competency in pharmacy practice and health care.
- Arden Barry (Board Vice-Chair, College of Pharmacists of BC)
“I pledge to…consider cultural sensitivity and humility in pharmacy practice and regulatory issues.”
- Bob Nakagawa (Registrar, College of Pharmacists of BC)
Just because Change Day is over, doesn't mean that the pledges have to stop! You can still submit your Change Day pledges at changedaybc.ca/PLEDGE until December 15!
Thank you to the BC Patient Safety and Quality Council for continuing to organize this incredible event and promoting positive, lasting change within our province’s health system.
