Health Canada has developed a policy statement on the electronic ordering of controlled substances. The policy can be viewed here.
This new policy will replace the 1999 Interim Guidelines for the Electronic Ordering of Controlled Substances which has been deemed to be limited in scope and not able to address the needs of all regulated parties. The new policy statement will assist regulated parties (when this includes licensed dealers, pharmacists and practitioners) in ensuring that electronic ordering systems meet applicable regulatory requirements while providing maximum flexibility.
