Diabetes Pharmacists Network will connect pharmacy professionals to online education opportunities, resources and events.
The Banting and Best Diabetes Centre has published a new resource for diabetes management for pharmacists. The Guidebook for Pharmacists on Diabetes Management focuses on three key areas for effective diabetes management and care; glycemic management, cardiovascular protection and lifestyle modification.
Many stakeholders partnered to create this guidebook: pharmacists, dietitians, psychologists, endocrinologists, cardiologists, internists, exercise physiologists and physicians were all involved in its development.
In addition to the guidebook, the Banting and Best Diabetes Centre – a centre of excellence for innovation in diabetes research, education and clinical care – also launched a new Diabetes Pharmacists Network and website: www.diabetespharmacistsnetwork.ca.
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can register for free to become a member of the network. Online education resources will become available in 2015.
