To ensure OAT and injection/intranasal drug administration services are provided safely and in compliance with College standards, registrants must complete the required training and certification process prior to providing these services. During Pharmacy Professionals Reviews, Compliance Officers have been reviewing these certifications and declarations to ensure that the required training has been completed and appropriate certification has been received. CareConnect is BC’s secure, view-only electronic health record (EHR) that is utilized across the province to streamline and integrate the continuum of care.
Currently, over 480 pharmacies and 880 pharmacists are enrolled in CareConnect across BC with the goal being as many pharmacists as possible by the end of 2021.
This past month, we were disheartened and appalled to learn of the discovery of the remains of 215 children in unmarked graves on the site of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School as well as the more recent discovery of the remains of 182 children on the site of the former St. Eugene's Mission School. We stand with the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc, and Ktunaxa First Nations and all Indigenous People in BC as they continue to process this news.

As of Friday morning, the B.C. Wildfire Service says 242 wildfires are currently blazing, with 60 evacuation orders covering just over 3,000 properties still in effect, while residents of nearly 19,000 other properties must be ready to leave on short notice.
If you have been displaced by an evacuation, you can visit a pharmacy near you to access an emergency supply of medications you may need. Under the College’s Emergency Supply for Continuity of Care policy, a pharmacist may use their professional judgement to determine if they can safely provide you with an emergency supply. The College’s Find a Pharmacy tool can help you locate a pharmacy in the community where you are staying.
