Pharmacist Registration Renewal Options
Full Pharmacist
Full pharmacists are permitted to engage in the practice of pharmacy (see definition in the Regulation) and may perform the restricted activities set out in section 4(1) of the Pharmacists Regulation made pursuant to the Health Professions Act.
Non-Practising Pharmacist
Non-practising pharmacists are registrants of the College who cannot provide pharmacy services, but are permitted to use the title “Pharmacist (Non-Practising)”. Non-practising pharmacists are required to submit their registration renewal application online and pay the registration fee annually, but are not required to complete CE requirements or maintain professional liability insurance as part of the application.
To register as a non-practising pharmacist, you must transfer directly from the full pharmacist register to the non-practising pharmacist register at the time of your renewal. Non-practising pharmacists who would like return to the full pharmacist register, must apply for reinstatement.
Former Pharmacist
Former pharmacists are no longer registered with the College, and therefore, they cannot provide pharmacy services nor use the title “pharmacist”. Former pharmacists who would like to return to the full pharmacist register, must apply for reinstatement.
Pharmacy Technician Registration Renewal Options
Full Pharmacy Technician
Pharmacy Technicians are permitted to engage in patient care by performing the restricted activities in accordance with section 47(5) of the HPA bylaws and section 4(1) of the Pharmacists Regulation made pursuant to the Health Professions Act, as well as the scope of practice outlined in the applicable Standards of Practice under HPA Bylaws - Schedule F.
Non-Practising Pharmacy Technician
Non-practising pharmacy technicians are registrants who cannot provide pharmacy services, but are permitted to use the title “Pharmacy Technician (Non-Practising)” or “Technician (Non-Practising)”. Non-practising pharmacy technicians are required to submit their registration renewal application online and pay the registration fee annually, but are not required to complete CE requirements or maintain professional liability insurance as part of their application.
To register as a non-practising pharmacy technician, you must transfer directly from the pharmacy technician register to the non-practising pharmacy technician at the time of renewal. Non-practising pharmacy technicians that would like return to the practising pharmacy technician register, must apply for reinstatement.
