We are sad to share that a great contributor to the pharmacy profession, Mr. Gordon Slobin, B.A., B.S.P., Senior Instructor Emeritus with the UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, passed away in June 2015.
The College offers its sincere condolences to Gordon’s family.
Gordon began practicing pharmacy in 1959. He held managerial roles in community pharmacies for almost 20 years, most notably as Associate Manager, Shoppers Drug Mart, from 1972- 1979. He began working as a full time lecturer with UBC’s Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1981 and soon became Assistant to the Dean in 1986. He served as a faculty advisor to undergraduate students, faculty representative to the Pharmacy Alumni Division, and achieved the tenured rank of Senior Instructor in 1991. He was also the first recipient of the Squibb Award for Excellence in Pharmaceutical Teaching in 1985.
A kind, dedicated, caring professional with the utmost of integrity, Gordon was favorite among UBC students and deeply respected in the pharmacy community. He was an excellent role model for a generation of pharmacists who had the privilege of learning from him.
You will be missed, Gordon!
