Langley is the next community in British Columbia to offer a naloxone take-home program.
Offered by the BC Centre for Disease Control under its BC Harm Reduction Program, the Take Home Naloxone (THN) program provides naloxone to opioid users and educates them about overdose risk. The first BC THN program was piloted in 2012 and now there are more than 25 naloxone providers in Vancouver alone.
Update April 2016: The THN program is completely separate from the legislative changes that make non-prescription use of naloxone accessible to the public at community pharmacies.
The first education session for the new Langley THN program is Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Starting Point Outreach Services. Education sessions will continue to be offered at Starting Point on the third Tuesday every other month (e.g. November 17, 2015; January 19, 2016) at 2:00 p.m.
