Business Metrics and their Impact on Public Safety: A Report from the College of Pharmacists of BC

This past spring, the College of Pharmacists of BC (CPBC) conducted an anonymous survey to shed light on a critical issue: the impact of business metrics on public safety in British Columbia. The results indicate that business targets or metrics are clearly taking a toll on the mental health and well-being of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians and are very likely negatively impacting the delivery of safe and effective care for British Columbians., a trend that deeply concerns the CPBC board.

Our report delves into the preliminary findings and analysis of the survey.

CPBC is taking action to develop and implement additional measures to monitor and address the negative impact of business metrics and targets on the safety of the public, and to work to prevent such issues from arising in the future.
