In response to the increasing demands on BC’s pharmacies and pharmacy professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic, the College Board has granted PDAP exemptions for the remainder of 2020 registrant renewals; as well as to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who wish to be reinstated after being non-practicing and/or former status for less than 90 days.
Earlier this week, in response to the continuing COVID-19 global health pandemic, B.C. Minister of Health, Adrian Dix and B.C. Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry announced that patients will be able to obtain refills of their regular prescriptions at pharmacies in an effort to avoid non-essential physician visits and free doctors to treat COVID-19 cases.
New delivery requirements for Opioid Agonist Treatment, allowing pharmacists to use their professional judgement to deliver the drugs to a patient if they feel it is safe, appropriate and in the best interest of the patient to do so, are now in effect.
