Frequently Asked Questions

Who determines the fees?

Registration fees are approved by the CPBC Board.

I note the fees are increasing – by how much?

$85 for pharmacists and $57 for pharmacy technicians per year.

Why are the fees increasing?

The decision to amend registrant fees is always a difficult one for the CPBC Board. Like other Canadian organizations, we continue to see an increase in operational costs due to inflation. The day-to-day work of the College costs more. The Board has a duty to ensure CPBC has the resources it requires to fulfill its regulatory mandate to protect public health and safety.

To meet these evolving requirements, CPBC has focused on several strategic initiatives. These include enhancing continuous quality improvement in pharmacy care, advancing Indigenous cultural safety & humility, and ensuring regulatory and operational excellence in all areas of the College. Registrant fees directly support these efforts.

How are the fees being used?

Fees support CPBC’s core functions, including setting and enforcing practice standards, registrant registration, investigating complaints to protect public health and safety, and to ensure pharmacy practice adapts to the evolving healthcare landscape.

Are fees going to go up next year?

Fees are reviewed annually by the CPBC Board. Future adjustments will depend on CPBC’s needs, so we cannot predict year-to-year changes.
