We are pleased to announce that Daryl Beckett will be joining the College as General Counsel.
Daryl has a wealth of experience having worked in the field of health profession regulation for over 20 years. Most recently Daryl has been advising multiple in-house clients as Legal Counsel in the Executive Office of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), primarily in the areas of regulatory policy and practice, corporate and governance matters, and FOI, privacy, and information management. Daryl was instrumental in helping the BCCNM work through two College amalgamations in a very short number of years. Prior to that, Daryl articled in the Registration, Inquiry and Discipline Department at the nursing College. Before articling, Daryl was the Director of Professional Regulation for the BC Ministry of Health for more than 10 years, with responsibility for development and administration of the Health Professions Act (“HPA”) and other relevant legislation and for oversight of all self-governing health profession regulators in BC. Daryl has also held other various health policy and legislation positions in government and also spent five years’ as a policy consultant to Indigenous organizations.
In addition to becoming the General Counsel for our College, Daryl will be overseeing the Policy and Legislation Department and the Privacy and Records Management Department.
