CALL FOR VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE MEMBERS 2022

The College of Pharmacists of BC is inviting volunteers to serve on its committees!

The College’s committees are composed of members of the public, as well as registered pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Committees and subcommittees assist the College in meeting its legislated mandate to protect the public by ensuring practitioners have the knowledge, skills and abilities to provide safe and effective pharmacy care.

2022 COMMITTEE VACANCIES

The College is currently looking for members of the public and registered pharmacists and pharmacy technicians interested in joining the following committees:

Application Committee

  • Seeking at least 1 registered pharmacy technician

Drug Administration Committee

  • Seeking at least 1 registered pharmacist

Inquiry Committee

  • Seeking at least 1 member of the public

Practice Review Committee

  • Seeking at least 1 registered pharmacist or pharmacy technician

Quality Assurance Committee

  • Seeking at least 1 member of the public
  • Seeking at least 1 registered pharmacist or pharmacy technician

Registration Committee

  • Seeking at least 1 member of the public
Only a limited number of vacancies are available at this time. However, if additional committee position(s) unexpectedly become available, the College may reach out to past applicants to help fill the vacancy(ies). We thank all applicants for their time and interest.

VOLUNTEER APPOINTMENTS

PUBLIC MEMBERS

In addition to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, the College requires public representation on almost all of its committees.

Public committee members provide transparency and diverse perspectives, as well as a wide range of knowledge and skills that help to enhance the effectiveness of each committee.

PHARMACISTS AND PHARMACY TECHNICIANS

The College’s committees are composed primarily of registered pharmacists and pharmacy technicians from a variety of different practice backgrounds.

To be considered for appointment, you must:

  • Be a full pharmacist or pharmacy technician
  • Be in good standing
  • Have been registered with the College for a minimum of 1 year

EXISTING COMMITTEE MEMBERS

Current committee members are not required to submit a new application to retain any appointments they currently hold.

Current committee members are however eligible to apply to join additional committees.

In order to apply for additional committee appointments, existing members must submit an up-to-date resume and the appropriate application form as outlined above.

TIME COMMITMENT

All committee members are appointed for terms of up to 3 years and for a maximum of 6 consecutive years.

Committees meet as needed, with sessions ranging from half to full day or evening meetings. Committees may meet up to 3 to 4 times per year, however some may meet more frequently in panels up of 3 to 5 members.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

In line with our COVID-19 Safety Plan to reduce spread of the virus, committee meetings will be conducted virtually, via video conference or teleconference.

Note: Should there be an exceptional circumstance requiring a Discipline Committee panel to be held in-person, appropriate COVID-19 safety protocols would be in place and the College would ensure all panelists were comfortable with the safety plan. 

HOW APPOINTMENTS ARE MADE

All appointments are made by the Board of the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.

Applications are reviewed by the College’s Governance Committee, who then provide recommendations for committee appointments to the College Board.

Appointments to College committees will be made by the Board at its April 2022 meeting.

Every person who is appointed will be notified as soon as possible.
