Methadone Transition Begins February 1, 2014.
The College has added a FAQ document to the dedicated Methadone Maintenance Treatment (MMT) section of our website. The FAQ covers some of the common questions the College has received about MMT during the lead-up to the transition date of February 1. You will also find the online training session, the PPP-66 Policy Guide (2013), and numerous other resources for you and your patients in this section.
If after reviewing these materials you still have questions that have not been answered, please email us directly at [email protected]
You can accept prescriptions written on the new MMT CPP form starting February 1.For more information please click here.
In the event of an emergency
In the event of a patient overdose or someone accidentally ingesting methadone, 9-1-1 should be called immediately. The Poison Control Centre is also available at 604-682-5050 or 1-800-567-8911.
PPP-71 is in Effect
Effective February 1 all prescriptions requiring home delivery must be written on the new MMT CPP form.
Home delivery is only acceptable under extraordinary circumstances, if the patient has restrictions in mobility and if the prescribing physician has provided written authorization on the prescription by signing the declaration, pharmacists may provide home delivery of methadone for maintenance. This practice is the exception to the rule and not normal practice.
