Life is full of stresses. Everyone experiences them; every profession has them. It is inherent to those professions with important responsibilities. The health professions inherently have more stress associated with them because of the impact of their actions, or lack thereof, on the health of our patients.
The PEI College of Pharmacists has appointed its new Registrar.
Michelle Wyand was officially appointed in February after serving as interim Registrar for 4 months. She was previously the Assistant Registrar with the College.

André Picard @picardonhealth recently tweeted an article from the Washington Post entitled A doctor discovers an important question patients should be asked. Google it.
Life as Registrar can be busy. Most days are spent working with staff on the regular tasks at hand, but some days have me switching between many different hats.
I’m proud to be a pharmacy professional in BC. Pharmacy is an honourable profession with noble goals and holds the trust and respect of the public we serve. To be a pharmacist and able to live in a beautiful province like BC is such a treat!
It’s time for a change. Isn’t it always? As the saying goes: the only thing that remains constant is change. Strange saying, but it is true.
Personally, we might want to exercise more, eat better, travel or learn a new skill. I like doing all of those things. Change is good.
What’s innovation? Is it good? Maybe not? I’ve been thinking about this lately, as I talk to pharmacists and technicians throughout the province. Lots of different angles to it.
Norm had a long and distinguished pharmacy career in BC and across Canada. He was owner/operator of Norman’s Pharmacy before becoming Registrar of the College for 17 years from 1978 until his retirement in 1995.
"Norm was a true gentleman, with a great sense of humour and a wonderful laugh," says current Registrar Bob Nakagawa. "He was a leader, mentor and friend to me and a generation of pharmacists."
Why is it that life seems to be going by so quickly these days? Maybe it’s just me. They say that the older you get, the faster time passes. Do you find that you just don’t ever have enough time to get to all the things that you want or need to? I do. I wonder if it is because there isn’t enough time, or if it is because I want to do more than what is possible.
