After carefully considering all eligible applicants, the College of Pharmacist of BC Board has appointed Sorell Wellon as the District 8 Pharmacy Technician Representative to the Board. Sorell Wellon's term of office will end at the start of the November 2016 Board meeting.
Expressions of interest from eligible pharmacy technicians were sought for a District 8 Board member following the resignation of Bal Dhillon on February 22, 2016. The vacancy needed to be filled in time for the upcoming April Board meeting in order for the Board to be appropriately constituted. A regular District 8 election will be held in October 2016.
Sorell Wellon has been working in pharmacy since 2002. Her passion for pharmacy and teaching continues to grow along with her dedication to the pharmacy technician profession. Sorell has been an instructor for the Pharmacy Technician Program in the Nanaimo and Duncan Community Colleges and earned a Provincial Instructors Diploma.
In 2011, Sorell became one of the first pharmacy technicians licensed in BC as part of the inaugural group of Registered Pharmacy Technicians for British Columbia. She also helped teach the online Pharmacy Technician Bridging Program for the University of British Columbia from 2011 to 2013.
She is currently the operations manager for Remedy’sRx Specialty Pharmacy in Sidney.
